Before planting trees
After planting trees
Checking has started!
On Sunday 13th October, we held an event at Shonan Village Forest as part of the G20 Global Land Initiative
'Let's learn the Miyawaki Method: Tree Planting Festival
~Let's create a forest that will last for 9000 years in Shonan Village Forest!
and checked the condition of all 500 saplings that had been planted.
The forest regeneration instructors from Silwa, who were active at the tree-planting event on the day, make a reappearance. They start checking without missing a single tree.
The most common problem was shallow planting and a lack of soil compaction around the saplings after planting. All the necessary adjustments were completed before winter arrived.
The results for each group have been announced!
Group 1: 19 tree planting errors (fallen over, shallow planting), 1 straw mulching error (fallen over)
Group 2: 7 tree planting errors (fallen over, shallow planting), 1 straw mulching error (fallen over), 2 rope-stretching errors (fallen over)
Group 3: 1 straw mulching error (fallen over)
Group 4: 3 trees planted incorrectly (fallen over or planted too shallow), 1 mulching mistake (fallen over), 1 mistake in the way the straw rope was tied (fallen over)
Group 5: 10 trees planted incorrectly (fallen over or planted too shallow)
※The figures in parentheses show the condition of the saplings
The best team was Team 3!
On the same day, we also prepared for the Autumn Tree Planting Festival.
Please come and experience how to maintain the trees after they have been planted❣
